Now I can do BodyPump at home
I've been going to a 1-hour Les Mills Body Pump class at my local gym for years now, and I absolutely love it. I go just once a week as cross-training (I normally run five times a week.) In the past, I've tried to find similar workouts I can do at home with DVDs, but nothing comes close. Most weight-lifting DVDs have boring techno music and include exercises that are difficult to do with good form and without getting injured (like many of the currently-popular plyometric exercises). Now I'm thrilled I can do my Body Pump workout from home!
Mostly, I stick with the two DVDs in this set that give you a full body Pump workout (55 minutes) and cover all the major muscle groups. I recognize the music tracks from my gym class, so they've recycled old tracks to make these DVDs rather than using new songs, but I don't mind that. I really like the tracks they've chosen. I hope they'll release updates over time so we can get new music to use at home. Also, I'm excited there's...
This is a good workout, but if you have a barbell already...
here is the link [...] to order just the DVDs. When you call Beachbody the reps tell you that it is a whole package that can not be broken down, this is not true. You have to select the 89.95 option, if the 189+ comes up, you have the option to delete it. Continue to click through and at that end you have the option to purchase the dvds with one payment or that 3 month plan. I am posting this because I already have a barbell set, weights, etc. in my workout room and don't need another barbell set. Beachbody initially would not sell just the dvds only, but came under a bit of backlash and changed their minds. Again, they would prefer you to order the whole set with the barbell, but this is an option if you already have a barbell set at home. Also, I have read many complaints on various boards that the equipment (BARBELL SET) is subpar. So, if you have a solid barbell set (I use the Troy Lite system, great and solid) then bypass the barbell set.
waited a long time for this
I LOVE body pump and was SO excited that they made this kit available! I have been doing it 3 times a week for 2 months now and still love it. I really like that the dvd's have the option of "pumped up music", so you don't have to listen to the trainers all the time, and just get lost in the music, with instructions written on the screen. I hated going to the gym to do body pump, the classes were often full and was hard to get a spot. And people would seriously walk OVER me putting their stuff away early. So I love doing this at home!
The only complaints I have are minor:
(1) The clips on the bar are very hard to get on/off, so I usually just leave one amount of weights on the bar for the whole exercise. I tried to buy new clips at a local fitness store, but I guess the bar is 1/16" too big for them, and couldn't replace them. I already have other weighted bars that I use, so I don't have to change weights on the provided bar.
(2) Some of the visual...
